Was the building constructed in an environmentally friendly manner?
Yes, the building was constructed based on the latest environmental standards. This means you can live your life with a minimal CO₂ footprint.
Where is the building and what is the area like?
The 66 MONKEYS building is located on Mühlenstraße, a street in the district of Pankow, which lies in the north-east part of Berlin. The area is very popular among students, trainees, daily commuters and young people because of its convenient location. Numerous supermarkets, restaurants and bars, the city center, various parks and multiple university campuses are only a short distance away.

Is there a building superintendent?
Yes.
What apartment categories are available?
We offer six categories – BASIC, COMFORT, PREMIUM, PREMIUM PLUS, PREMIUM PLUS XL and Shared Apartment.
How are the categories different?
The categories differ mostly in terms of their size, furniture and location within the building.
What happens after I send in my application?
We will review the documents you provide to us and then contact you to set up a time to view the apartment. Or, if you prefer, we can just send you the rental contract.
What do I do when I receive the rental contract?
Simply fill it out in duplicate, sign it and then send it back to us within 5 days. The contract will be reviewed, counter signed and sent back to you within a few business days. Once that is complete you can move in on the agreed date. Please note that incomplete documents will delay the process. If this happens you should hurry – we can reserve your apartment only for a limited time.
When can I move into my apartment?
We will notify you of your move-in date as early as possible.
How do I pay the rent?
The rent and maintenance costs will be debited from your bank account each month via direct debit authorization.
What is included in the flat rate?
Your rental price includes just about everything: water, water heating, space heating, electricity, internet, building superintendent, trash disposal, etc. Unfortunately the mandatory public broadcasting license fee is not included since it varies from person to person and we are not allowed to pay it for you.
The broadcasting license fee?
The broadcasting license fee is generally required for every household. There are however some exceptions such as those who receive student loans (BAföG).

Will I need to pay a commission or any other fees after the rental contract is signed?
We generally bear the costs for arranging the apartment rental. We will only charge a one-time fee of € 150 for the apartment handover and acceptance.
Do I have to pay a security deposit?
Yes. As security you will need to pay two months of the base rent before moving in. We will keep this deposit until you move out. Further details are included in the rental contract.
What do I need to bring with me when I move in?
You, a valid ID and a bit of time so that we can show you around.
Can I buy furnishings such as bed sheets and dishes from you?
No not yet unfortunately. But we are currently working on a list of useful items that we can provide for you upon request.
What is the number of my apartment?
The number can be found in the rental contract as well as on the door to your apartment ;-).
Who do I contact if I have any questions regarding the rental contract?
Just give us a call or send us an email.
How can I cancel the rental contract?
Even the best times end at some point. Simply send us a notice of cancellation in writing. You can also scan the notice and email it to us.
Can I change apartments?
In many cases yes. Just let us know and we can talk about it.

How many sets of keys do I receive when moving in?

What do I need to consider when moving out?
Contact us at your earliest convenience to set up a handover date. The apartment should look exactly how it was when you moved in.
Unfortunately pets are not allowed. If you are dependent on a guide dog, let’s talk about it.
Can I use the basement?
Yes! We have several cellar compartments that you are welcome to rent! They all have a size of approx. 4 – 4.5m². Let us know as soon as you want to rent a basement room.
Can I park my bicycle somewhere?
Yes, there are plenty of bicycle parking spots. Even though the parking spots are secure, don’t forget to lock up your bicycle properly.
Are there communal rooms?
Yes, there is a lounge area in the launderette, outdoor seating and a table tennis. In addition, we are working on creating even more space for your ideas.

Where can I do my laundry?
We set up a laundry room with washers and dryers for you in the front building. The appliances work with the app “appWash”. You can use it to conveniently pay for the machines on your smartphone.
How can I connect to the internet?
Via hotspots in the building. The use of this internet is included in the price for all tenants of our building.
Am I allowed to drill holes into the wall?
If you want to hang something, please use Power Strips to avoid damaging the walls. If you need any help, you can always contact the building superintendent.
Am I allowed to have friends stay over for the night?
They can certainly visit you, but they can’t live with you!
What do I do if I lose my keys?
Notify us immediately.
Where are the mailboxes?
They are located in the entrance area.
Can I paint the walls in my room?
No, we really like the color of concrete.
Is there a place to BBQ?
Unfortunately there is no possibility to grill on our premises. In Berlin are numerous parks where barbecues are allowed.
Are there night-time quiet hours?
Yes, from 10 pm to 6 am.
Which universities do most of the residents attend?
Most of the tenants go to the following universities due to their ease of access:
